Mega is a private Chilean television network based in Santiago, Chile. In 2012, ownership of Mega was transferred from Grupo Claro to Holding Bethia, with Warner Bros. Discovery acquiring 27.5% in 2016, both owning the channel through Mega Media.
Mega is a Chilean free-to-air television channel that began broadcasting on October 23, 1990 as the country's first private television network within channel 9 VHF in Santiago, previously occupied by TVN Señal 2 of Televisión Nacional de Chile. Founded under the name Megavisión, it was controlled since its foundation by Comunicación, Información, Entretención y Cultura Sociedad Anónima (CIECSA), a subsidiary of Grupo Claro. The division also controlled, at that time, 20% of the cable television operator VTR (formerly Metrópolis), Compañía Sudamericana de Vapores, Diario Financiero, Viña Santa Rita and Cristalerías Chile.
